Could somebody please explain to me the difference between the "Regen on Demand" feature, and driving in "L" mode?

As I haven't yet been able to take a test drive, I'm very curious. Likely after driving an ELR, it would become quite obvious?

"L" is the same in the ELR as in the Volt, but because the ELR is heavier, "L" feels like it slows just a bit less than in the Volt.

However, when using the regen paddles, the car slows significantly more than using "L", except that the initial second of deceleration with the regen paddles is quite a bit less than "L" (which starts to slow instantly, like in the Volt). It's a strange activation curve, but I'm getting used to it.

For sure, if you're about to rear end someone in the ELR, you gotta hit the brakes or quickly throw it into "L" since the regen paddles will not slow you quickly enough at first. However, after they fully engage, the regen paddles can almost slow you to a stop, even going down a hill. (I use the plural, but you only have to press one paddle or the other.)

When driving in "L", the regen paddles will slow the car even more.
