excitement is building up for next month’s 2013 Detroit Auto Show and General Motors is getting ramped up to release their brand new 2014 Cadillac ELR for an official debut as a part of the festivities. This Caddy is getting the same range extended electric drive system that everyone knows and loves from the Chevy Volt. In fact, the ELR is being built right alongside the Volt at General Motor’s Detroit Hamtramck plant. No worries about power though, this sedan is expected to pack a much bigger punch than the smaller engine the Volt hosts. Production is on schedule to start next year. Beyond that, General Motors is holding on to the rest of the details about this brand new luxury liner until the Auto Show.
What we can see in the video is that the 2014 Cadillac ELR is designed to pack a WOW factor in regard to styling and design. It looks sleek and sporty with a sophisticated elegance that only the top of the class of luxury vehicles can manage to pull off. It is expected to have an upgraded interior and additional high tech goodies making it the most advanced Caddy on the highway and byways. You can expect to pay somewhere in the mid-$50k range for this new ride depending on what options you pick and choose through.
You can check out the video and see the excitement about the 2014 Cadillac ELR for yourself. The music is a big hint about the type of performance and handling that will be built into this newest edition to the Caddy lineup. That just might have to do until the full details are released at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.

Eco-credentials aside (albeit, I realise that is mainly the point) if Cadillac ELR looks like the Converj, it'll look fantastic IMO! Hope it isn't scaled down too much.
This is the 'futuristic' car they believed we'd be driving - looks like something out a sci-fi film! Love it.

The new 'leaked' spy photo of the ELR shows that it's shape is very close to the original shape of the Converj concept, it's hard to say about the headlights, but they look different than the long narrow slit ones as seen in the ELR photos on the Cadillac website and in the logo of this forum.

Both the concept and preproduction versions of the Cadillac ELR seem to match up well, there of course will be differences, because concept cars are really dreamlike, an artist's conception of what could be, but of course in order to be street legal, changes would need to be made. I always expect things like headlights, taillights, ground clearance, wheel size, windshield shape, and dashboard switches and controls to look wildly different. This Cadillac ELR stays as close as possible to the concept.

you are completely right but not only that but the manufacturers like to save money on production cost and some parts of the concept cars are very often very hard to manufacture on a mass scale, even though it's mostly tidbits.
